Charter Schools
Charter Schools are innovative public schools created to close the opportunity gap and deliver an excellent education to every student. They provide free education and like other public schools they cannot discriminate by race, gender, religion, or disability. 44 states allow charter schools in the U.S. and 3.4 million students attended these schools. Something I learned was that the classes are much smaller than regular classrooms. Which this is really interesting because I feel like the student might get a better education because there is less distraction in the room for them to focus on what is being taught. Also, these are good schools to help with families going through tough times such as low income families. When going to a charter school as well there is no impact on whether you can get into a college. They have the same chance of going to a regular school to get into a college. Certain charter schools focus on certain subjects rather than on many topics in one. This is different and interesting because if a student just wants knowledge on one thing then they could go to one of these schools to be educated about it. Rather then in a public school there are a bunch of things that you learn about and do to earn your degree. My opinion on charter schools is that it is basically a personal preference. To me I think I would still stick with a public school just for the fact of the experience that I have had my whole life with going to public schools. I think charter school are neat in the fact that you get a different experience than a bigger education platform. Overall charter schools are a different experience school compared to public schools and that there are different agendas that they follow compared to any other school around the world.

Tyler,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your blog about charter schools. I appreciate your conclusion that based upon your own positive experiences with education, you would stick with the traditional public schools.
